Friday Fantastic 5: 5 Ways To Be Your Own Valentine

Welcome to Friday Fantastic 5! Every Friday, stop by to see 5 things that I'm loving that week!

In honor of Valentine's Day, today's theme is: 5 ways to be your own valentine!

1. Finally make that new recipe that you have been wanting to try, or make your favorite meal!
Cooking in general brings me so much joy. Whether for me or others, something about nailing a recipe dead on or whipping together some cookies just makes me smile. If cooking isn't your thing, go to your favorite restaurant with a friend, grab takeout and have a date with Juan Pablo! (anyone else a Bachelor watcher?)

2. Get in a good workout!
Go to a group class if you're craving some social time or put in your headphones and hit the weights for some personal time. If you don't feel like going to the gym, do a park workout (playing at the park totally counts!), go for a long walk, or take a bike ride through the neighborhoods.

3. Volunteer for the day
Want to know the best way to not feel sorry for yourself on Valentine's Day? Go SERVE. Give your day to an organization who may be short staffed or go buy the man you pass on the corner every day a meal. Don't just do the action and check it off your list, take time to reflect and listen to someone else's story. The best vacation from your busy mind is listening to someone else's journey for a while.

4. Go on a day trip (or hike!)
Get some fresh air and feel some new ground. Head a couple of cities over and stroll the streets for a day, go for a picnic in a new park, find a new cafe and people watch for the day, or find a new mountain to climb. Be somewhere new and soak up the opportunity for renewal.

5. Unplug and unwind
Take a day off from the constant social media checking and pull out your favorite book or a playlist to listen to instead. Take a hot bath (even add some bubbles or epsom salts!), write a letter to someone you love, or take part in some light stretching or yoga before bed.

What are you doing today to be your own Valentine??
